While enjoying a few drinks at the Green Dragon, your magic-user is approached by a nervous man and asked if they are willing to identify a magic ring.

  1. Elizabeth's Ring of Interior Design - Allows the casting of the cantrip Color thrice per day. The effect lasts one day, but is permanent if cast on a wall.

Made by a Magic User who liked changing up her tower each morning the way some modern folk enjoy changing their laptop or phone's wallpaper every day.

(Part of the reason is to go in a different direction than one would think for a skull ring. The Magic User was apparently also into undead kitsch. Went to see the famed bard group "Rick Cavern and the Bad Seeds" in concert when she was young.)

  2. Evan Edwards There's definitely a place in my campaign for your idea. But I'm just curious.. what made you look at a skull ring and think of interior decorating? Wouldn't this ring clash with anyone that has a fashion sense? Unless, of course, they're Goth, in which case they'd just make everything black. :-)

  3. Gerald Williams - The parenthetical note I edited and added right after I wrote the original comment. It's also designed to be actively useful to an adventuring party: marking locations in a confusing dungeon, having camouflaged monsters "pop" against a neon yellow background to turn an attack penalty into an attack bonus. Cantrips are useful, and 3/day cast makes some players more likely to use it.

  4. Ring of Skeleton Dance. Once per night, can summon these four skeletons. Their dance will scare the bejeezus out of anyone (save vs fear). AND then they can throw their heads at anyone who doesn't flee.

  5. Both cool ideas. Nick Cavern was a good one. Thanks for the Holloween treat Zach. Did you notice the skeletons transform themselves into an uber skeleton at the end

  6. If the M-U has s cat for a familiar, it really dislikes the skeleton dance!

  7. It's definitely a signet of the local Death Cult. It's wearer will be recognized by other members as "on of their own" even as the local constabulary will recognize the bearer as someone to be brought to the stake and burned.

Makes the wearer safe from energy drain and all harmful undead "touch" effects.
