Last year I tried my hand at #Drawlloween  and made it about half-way through the month before I became overwhelmed and lost track. (Which is typical of many projects I take on... if I can't finish it in a week, who knows when it will get done.)

So this year I decided to run with the #Inktober  crowd instead and instead of using any theme lists or other things, I'm going to use it to get 31 pages of my defaced Monster Manual finished.

So on this first day of Inktober, I present to you Page 46 of the 1977 AD&D1e Monster Manual.

First of all, my apologies for the bad camera work and the dirty thumb.

First of all, my apologies for the bad camera work and the dirty thumb. I was just testing using my phone to make this video sample of my crosshatching work in progress during a g+ conversation with +Ryan Good about my mapping techniques.

This is a short video sample of me doing some crosshatching with a Sakura Micron 01 pen on 5-square-per-inch graph paper, filmed using my off-hand holding my iPhone as I worked. Maybe I'll get a device for holding my phone steady one of these days and make a time-lapse video of an entire map from start to finish.

(Let's also see if/how GooglePlus handles this video...)

Hey folks, miss me?

Internet is back, and I've got maps of a keep on the blog!

On Friday I posted the map of Greater Briar Keep – designed to fill a role similar to the very familiar to most “Keep on the Borderlands”. Today’s map is a closeup of the structure of the main keep, expanded over four levels. There could technically be a map of the fifth level, but it would just be the battlements on top of the two towers of the keep.

And here are both maps in question:
