Happy Easter folks! I have a new Dragon by Dragon up this morning, reviewing Dragon 46 and White Dwarf 23. There are a few goodies, including some art by Roslof and Russ, and a trailer for Valley of the Gwangi. How can you lose?

Do you like crazy random names for your characters or NPCs?

If so this generator is for you. It is based on the works of J. Eric Holmes as compiled into a random table one-sheet by Zach H (who was gracious enough to allow me to adapt it into this thing)

So if names like Bartar of the Tangled Woods, Yorquas Ysger, Fegg the Arcane, or ...Wall; get your creative juices flowing then by all means check it out while it lasts.

And I highly encourage you to take a look at Zach's site http://zenopusarchives.blogspot.com/ for some other great Holmes inspired gaming goodness.

The pdf of the 1st edition of Runequest from 1978 is now available on drivethrurpg for $9.99. If you look at the preview you'll note the font is Futura - the same used in early printings of OD&D as well as Holmes & the AD&D rulebooks. This alone gives it more of an "early days" feel. On OD&D74, Fin talks about other reasons that this edition has that feel:

My regular DM Scott is at Gary Con this year for the first time.

My regular DM Scott is at Gary Con this year for the first time. Thursday he sent our group this photo, captioned:  "Hanging out in Frank Mentzer's living room, looking at his treasures..." This is especially notable since our campaign for the last five years is based around the Temple of Elemental Evil, which Menzter co-wrote with Gary Gygax. Mentzer is wearing a Gary Con I t-shirt with art by Tom Wham, and is displaying early TSR rulebooks from his collection.
