A play report

(a post of mine taken from another private forum tonight)
Played our first D&D game with my son (age 5) tonight. My wife Kristi ran the game and used the blueholme ruleset. It's holmes basic d&d but expanded to level 20. It was fantastic fun as anticipated but after the first combat my son inspired these: shark toothed arrows (+1 damage)

He was playing a centaur armed with a bow and shot this sharklike creature with arms and legs coming ashore while our party slept near by. After killing the thing with the help from his pop's fighter (he woke me up to help) he decided he wanted to make arrows from the shark teeth. Kristi and I both were surprised by his suggestion and she absolutely allowed it. The result was simply arrows that deal a bit more damage but the story behind them will be one as a beardo gamer dad I will never forget. :)

I picked up the first two issues of the UK D&D zine "Spectre" recently, and #1 (August 1979) mentions an upcoming "massive scenario" entitled "Knights Keep"---to be published later that year. The 2nd issue mentions a third issue being in the works in two months (and it includes part 2 of a scenario begun in #2 too).

Do any of UK folks know how many issues were printed in Spectre's run, and whether Knights Keep was ever published?

Havard wants to know if people think this could be used as a basis for Mystara's Shark-Kin. What do you think? Is it similar enough?

My introduction to #ntrpgcon --- Chris Kutalik's Eld game.

My introduction to #ntrpgcon --- Chris Kutalik's Eld game. IIRC, this was during the break. My blurry hand reaches for coffee in the lower right corner, Chris Holmes is in the center, talking to the DM. I initially played a Wereshark Thief, who perished when impaled simultaneously by 5 or 6 Eld. And then I played Zereth!

With my con-friend Chris Holmes as a player in my North Texas RPG "Misty Isles of the Eld" game along with some other Blue Box fans, I decided to play to the audience with the pregens: the famous Zereth and Boinger, a wereshark, lawful warbear (close enough), samurai, etc.
