Not a #wereshark but looks like one

Mystara fans: Take a look at this free Sharkfolk PDF that Jeff Venancio and Daniel D. Justice have put onto DMs Guild:

Havard wants to know if people think this could be used as a basis for Mystara's Shark-Kin. What do you think? Is it similar enough?

  1. I downloaded it yesterday, still haven't had a chance to look at it. I too wondered if it would fit in as a "Holmsian WereShark". ;)

  2. I don't see were sharks sitting around tattooing each other.

  3. I can always do without modern art or social trends informing me what things are in D&D. Tattoos are near the top of that list. ;)

This is an interesting race for 5e, but I don't see me allowing it for players, unless all players in my group decided for some reason that they all wanted to be (Were) Sharkfolk.

It could be possible to allow this race, since my campaign is currently based in a port city very reminiscent of Portown. There are merfolk, sahuagin, deep scions, and other "Pirates of the Caribbean" style races and monsters about. If the characters can't/won't stop the formerly peaceful merfolk from attacking human ports, more chaos is the result. (After all, it was the players' goof-up in the game that caused it...)

New sea based characters might be needed for a campaign arc to explore these developments and it would give me a chance to open up the underwater/ocean voyage sandbox.

What is that to be called then? a "sandy-beach-box? ;)

  4. I think a logical amphibious race for characters would be seal or dolphin people. I don't see shark people needing a society, or too mix with other races who are their food.

  5. Not sure how many people are reading Kamandi now. It was a favorite of mine when Jack Kirbyville was doing it. Let's not encourage shaky videos of rambling fans too much.

  6. I'll remove it. I only posted it for the art.

  7. Oh don't remove it, I liked the art too. I'm just a sarcastic critic some times.
