EXPANDING THE MONSTER XP CHART FORM HOLMES
I am too dumb to figure out how to expand the "Experience Points for Monsters Overcome" Chart on page 11 of the Holmes.
What is the pattern? 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 35, 50, 75, 125, 175, 225....
What is up with the differences between 3 and 3+1 in xp? That is the only time there is an increase of 15 xp.
Then the bonus for special abilities is weird too.
It looks like Blueholme has me covered. But still, what is the deal?
ReplyDeleteThe Holmes XP tables are taken from the OD&D Greyhawk supplement, which finishes at "21 and up" with a 2,500 base / 2,000 additional point value. There isn't really a formula as far as I can work out (or I'd have put it in BLUEHOLME™).
ReplyDeleteMichael Thomas Thanks I only have the first three books not greyhawk.
ReplyDeleteHerman Klang, the supplements are definitely worth picking up for OD&D - shop around on eBay and you can usually find play copies for $20-30 each.
ReplyDeleteAnd .pdf coppies are available through OBS.
ReplyDeleteTrying again. 1st print Greyhawk has it all on a single page:

Do you think that 100xp per HD is ridiculous? Especially if we divide by level of PC or do 100xp *dungeon level / PC level. (That was in some set of rules right?).
ReplyDeleteHerman Klang not in the least
