Gygaxian Armor types, as described in the DMG and illustrated in the Dungeon Masters Adventure Log (1980). Includes an adaptation for Holmes Basic/OD&D, based on some clues from the Monster Manual.

Good eye! That DM Adventure Log is a little treasure trove of AD&D weapon and armor illustrations. (EDIT change information to illustrations)
ReplyDeleteI passed on that one way back then, mainly because I had my own system of logbooking. Perhaps I should'a picked that one up after all, as it appears there are quite a few things aside from logbooking in it!
ReplyDeleteSome of the reference charts in the DM Log are part of the content I've included in my draft DM Screen (for Black Blade to publish, eventually).
ReplyDeleteLooks cool. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWas this logbook by TSR? I have a Referee's Logbook for Traveller by Judges Guild, that I got a few years back, and it has a lot of useful stuff in it.
ReplyDeleteRobert Weber yes, it was a TSR publication. It even includes some information on the characters of TSR employees like Dave Cook, Kevin Hendryx, Tom Moldvay (with his fan favorite character, Morgan Ironwolf).
ReplyDeleteAllan Grohe, many of these charts should've been in the original DM screen: AC bonuses for cover/concealment, To Hit modifiers for spells and unusual circumstances, Wilderness movement information, etc.
I love this weird little book and that image that comes in it
ReplyDeleteI like that booklet too, but I really couldn't care less about AD&D armor classes. The original system just makes so much more sense. I feel a blog post coming on... :-)
ReplyDeletePeter Fröhlich I love simplicity, but I also love High Gygaxian flavor.
ReplyDeleteZach H Fair enough! :-)
