These are just crawling all over Skull Mountain. They wouldn't be that much of a problem, but the necromancers who made them out of spare parts also decided to add a deadly dose of venom to their fangs...

Cool photo? Wondering what makes them undead? How are they different from regular scorpions?
ReplyDeleteChris Holmes I totally forgot when writing this to add that they can be turned as skeletons. And from a mechanical standpoint, there isn't really that much difference between Bone Bugs and normal arachnids, they're mainly just meant as a sort of neat subtype of skeletons that can be found in the lairs of necromancers, as well as making more ecological sense in a dungeon (the undead don't have to eat, after all).
ReplyDeleteTrue, the undead should probably live in symbiosis with slime and molds and things. Venom from a bone bug might cause zombism.
ReplyDeleteThat model in the picture is available as a Halloween decoration and is a giant bone scorpion if you do minis.
ReplyDeleteEd Allen Yep! That's where I got the inspiration for them in the first place, I have a scorpion and one of the smaller spiders. I was looking at them and thought "You know, this would be a cool monster!"
