The Goatman (aka The Grunch) is the cryptid that freaked me out most as a kiddo, all thanks to this book. A sheep-beast that attacks parked cars (before I knew what “parking” really meant) with a giant axe? NIGHTMARE. FUEL.
Jon suggested the zine, but I supplied the title. One reason I've had that title in mind is because there was a show called Project UFO on TV during the Holmes-era that concerned a fictionalized version of the real Project Bluebook ---
Zach H I never missed that show as a kid. I think it was basically Dragnet, but with two starch-stiff Air Force guys, instead of two starch-stiff cops, and with "weird" goings on instead of robberies and break-ins.
I'm pretty sure that to watch it today, it'd be about as exciting as toasted Wonder Bread... The anticipation of aliens was what kept me watching.
They always found a normal explanation, didn't they?
I wish I had seen it. I was too young, probably watching Kimba the White Lion at the time. In fact, I never heard of it until the last ten years or so. If you look at the Wiki page, they mention that many later episodes were "Reverse Scooby-Do", where they spend much time looking for a normal explanation only to have it turn out to be aliens.
Doooo ittttt! The world needs this.
ReplyDeleteSeriously. Any amount of help or advice you may want or need, just hit me up.
Do it. Are you taking submissions now? How about now?
ReplyDeleteJon Wilson I think I'll take you up on that offer, you have quite a bit of experience with zines and I'd be happy to take your advice!
ReplyDeleteMark Craddock Soon...
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing this!
ReplyDeleteI've done the layout for all my publications if you need any help in that area.
