  1. ...Google Translate did that page about 80% justice, I'm guessing... but it is interesting.

  4. I also looked at it via Translate, but I'm not sure I followed it. Some evidence the translation was actually done by Avalon Hill?

  5. Zach H Yes, exactly. Until now, it was considered as an unofficial translation, but it appears that Avalon Hill made it.

  6. Color me confused. Why would Avalon Hill make a translation and claim copyright on another company's product?

  7. ...would it have been a sub-contracting sort of thing, because AH had experience getting translations of games done...?

  8. Sounds like so. There was allready a small wargame scene in France when D&D was introduced.

  9. I'll need to see a scan of what has been found. I'm not really getting the "black band" with the publisher information. Also, the statement "(C) AVALON HILL GAME COMPANY. Printed and published in French with the permission of THE AVALON HILL GAME COMPANY" sounds more like permission from AH was given to make the translation rather than AH being the translator themselves.

  10. The scan should be available soon. The next mystery will be to find the translator's name.
