Brings to mind the rat tunnels in the Sample Dungeon, where humans must crawl and fight at -2, but dwarves/hobbits have no penalty.

  1. The catacombs of Paris (as seen in As Above, So Below) had a lot of tunnels about 5'×2', or even 6'×3'

  3. I have been in a place that was on the other end of the spectrum. I used to think that there was no way that anyone built tunnels that were 10' wide in ancient times. Then I was in The Forum (in Rome) and they had some tunnels that were 10' by 10'. It reminded me of that old sage advice column where the person asks if two people in platemail on horses could travel down a tunnel side by side (I now think they actually could.).
