No problem, Gerald Williams - Portown is a subject near and dear to my heart : ) The Zenopus dungeon was the first one I ever read, upon getting my Holmes boxed set after poring through the mysterious blue rulebook an older friend of mine brought along on a car ride circa 1980. To this day, Portown - swathed in fog and shadow - remains an important feature in the landscape of my imagination.
Andy C much obliged, Andy. Thank you.

ReplyDeleteGood flavor text Andy.
ReplyDeleteI had a paper route and used my money to buy the Holmes set in 78. My friend had seen played D&D in California and told me to buy it. I was 13.
ReplyDeleteGood story and a good age to start Gerald.
ReplyDeleteThe Kingsport version is my favorite. Oh, I have my own version of Portown, but it isn't as succinct and expandable as the Kingsport map suggests.
