Here are some pages to stick in your Holmes Basic Set. Kent has transcribed and reformatted Gygax's 1975 article from an obscure Diplomacy zine (Europa) describing how to set up a D&D campaign. Especially nice is the paragraph describing the 13 levels of Old Castle Greyhawk.

    Why didn't Gygax put this in his rules instead of some obscure Diplomacy zine?
