Interesting history and fun to hear you two swap stories and opinions. As you know I got to play with miniatures for every thing and that is my favorite way to run games. I ran a fun game with just the Clue colored pawns for players and pennies for monsters and thought it worked well.
Carl Heyl Love the shorter more focused format of the podcast.
I was in your Disco D&D game and it was fantastic, especially getting to play with your classic miniatures. It was a great treat since I've always played using theater of the mind with the occasional quick sketch.
Recently, I've started experimenting with game markers to keep it abstract, but also help visualize the action. Sort of a minis/theater of the mind hybrid.
For Disco D&D, did you make the Moldvay inspired walls from actual dominoes?
Also, Chris Holmes makes his own very awesome miniatures and glad I had the privilege and opportunity to be in his game as well.
Thank you for sharing!

I remembered you from the game. I bought bulk wooden dominoes for my walls.
ReplyDeleteI think a good thing to use as markers might be centimeter counting cubes. They are super cheap and come in all kinds of colors.
Thanks Michael. Back in the day we would somtime use the pieces from our Risk game.
