I'm in the process of producing a gaming supplement.

I'm in the process of producing a gaming supplement. I have the OGL 1.0a, but rather than copyrighting my own images and introductory text, I was thinking of going creative-commons, attribution only.

I'll probably go the pay-what-you-want route. Is CC-BY route too legalistic? I don't expect to make a penny off of this and highly doubt the art is worth anything either.

Opinions?

  1. If you're not including other people's stuff that's licensed under the OGL, I don't see any advantage to using it over any of the CC licenses. If you're talking about mixing and matching, so that your additions to the OGL material aren't covered by that but by a CC license I think that's too complicated.

  2. I just used straight up copyright.

...you might be surprised how many pennies will add up...

  3. It occurs to me that putting in the CC-BY will add a page or two of non-content on text that is useless to others and images that are only 1/8 to 1/4 of a page.

Since the content has to do with player characters and NPCs hawking their services and wares, I might as well add a page or two of fake ads, one of which would include a link to my site so people can download full sized images for free.

Sort of like an Easter egg. The art isn't that great, but if someone wants them, they might as well get hi-res re-sizable images.

  4. My stock art comes with licence for use that you don't need to reprint, and it's cheap too.
