I always thought the witherlings seemed off in 4th edition, not quite fitting in with the high magic setting. They feel more old school D&D to me.

Cool monster that I've never heard of. Sort of a Frankenstein-type of undead-golem. I would clarify the duration of the paralysis. This was a gap in the original ghoul paralysis rules for years --- all the way up to and including the original Monster Manual. Is it rounds, turns, days, or until the witherling is killed?
ReplyDeleteZach H I originally was going to put it at 2d6 rounds, but after checking the Holmes rulebook I noted there was no duration listed, so to stay consistent I left it up to the DM.
ReplyDeleteA variety of answers were given in various post-MM sources --- dragonsfoot.org - Dragonsfoot • View topic - Ghoul Paralysis how long does it last?
ReplyDeletePerhaps more clearly reference ghouls in the description? I mean, it's sort of obvious but you never actually use the term in the description. Also are they turned as ghouls or wraiths? They have 4 HD (as a wraith) versus a ghoul's 2 HD, so it's not exactly clear which they should be turned as.
ReplyDeleteZach H Thank you for the constructive criticism! I've edited the details of the paralysis to state that it paralyzes as a ghoul, and that they are turned as wraiths.
