Joking aside, and to be fair, Gygax did say publicly he used 4d6 drop lowest as a house rule for generating ability scores. Whether that was the early days or later on, or for Mordenkainen, I do not have any clue.
I've noticed several characters from that era tend to drop high stats in con. I get why but... it's just not all that common in the groups I play in these days (cept for fighter types).
I bet EGG fudged those ability score rolls! :P

Well he is 13th level, so probably not his original stats. Could of had increases due to magic items, wishes, magic pools or who knows what else.
