During last night's game, I (as DM) was fumbling with dice and I said to the players: "Back in the old days, all a DM needed was 2 six-siders to run an entire game." XD
I know those rules have existed for a long time. Gary used a system of percentages generated by rolling different numbers of six-siders. I'm just glad I don't have to resort to flipping coins to generate random numbers. lol
Gerald Williams Yes, get it! It's the fourth pillar of Holmes' RPG contributions, the others being HB, the Boinger stories, and the Lovecraftian deities

ReplyDeleteWhat you term the "second die", I've always called the "control die". FWIW.
ReplyDeleteLike, rolling the old 0-9 twice d20, with a d6 control die (for the high/low determination).
heh, use 3 six siders and you're playing TFT...
ReplyDelete...which Holmes used as the basis of his simple introductory RPG in his 1981 book about RPGs
ReplyDeleteZach H , And now I'm looking for that book.. which I didn't know existed.
