The last OD&D supplement, Swords & Spells from 1976, came out in pdf today. It has some OD&D information not found elsewhere, such as the Area of Effect for many spells in the Spell Chart. http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/17175
I notified them, and have been informed they are working on resolving the issue.
Of course, they never bothered with the corrections and missing text in T1-4 I sent them several years ago, nor did they fix the clipped text in the U modules, so......
Swords & Spells (along with Chainmail), provided much of the basis for the mass combat system in my B/X Companion (it is referenced for mass combat in the Cook expert set). Glad to see it become available! : )
I never had any use for the book at my table either, but it did find some use in finding small details (about spells, IIRC) that were missing from 0e & Holmes that I used in compiling my own house rules that combined Holmes, 0e, Greyhawk & Blackmoor.
Just downloaded, it's missing page 7.
ReplyDeleteUgh. Weak sauce.

ReplyDeleteJust did a quick scan of the PDF, and page-36 is blank as well.
ReplyDeleteDavid Welborn Thanks David. I updated my trouble ticket with the page 36 info.
ReplyDeleteIncidentally, both of the blank pages should have battlefield diagrams.

I'm glad to see another one available again, but at the same time, I am very glad that I already have an original! :)
ReplyDeleteI never had any use for this book at the table, but I always thought Dave did some great artwork for it that alot of people probably never saw.
ReplyDeleteRich Franks Where do you make such reports? I have missed that option somehow.
ReplyDeletejeff b Agreed, Sutherland really shines in it, including some rare humorous art
