Not sure if anybody's taken a look but the download of B1 In Search of the Unknown now includes the Holmes version of the module. Unfortunately the scan isn't great, and the pages look washed out a bit, but if you've been looking for a Holmes B1 this has it. (B2 Keep on the Borderlands also received an update but it's two different PDFs of the Moldvay version.)

  1. Oh, nice! I got the email from DTRPG but hadn't bothered to look. Thanks for pointing that out, Wayne Rossi. :-)

  2. The Holmes version is just called B1_InSearchOfTheUnknown.pdf - the DDB prefixed one has the brown cover.

  3. My preferred B1 map nowadays is the simplified "ReQuasqueton" that Dyson Logos put together:

  4. There is another awesome B1 re-imagined map I use, I'll try to find it. You might have seen it.

  5. Same boat as Michael... got the update notice, just figured it was something minor... Thanks, Wayne.

  6. Against the Giants (G-1-2-3) was updated on the 17th. Mm....wonder if anything else was...

  7. Ah, I was wondering what that was about!

  8. Thanks Wayne! I'm amazed they are offering this as a free bonus.

  9. Downloaded! The cover looks great and is from a 1st print (has prices on the back cover), which is nice because my hardcopy is a 2nd print (no prices). However, if the scan of the interior is from the same printing (not guaranteed, sometimes the covers and interiors are mixed and matched), I didn't spot any differences between the 1st and 2nd prints. The interior scan leaves much to be desired. It's faint and fuzzy, with uneven contrast from page to page. No OCR of text either. Still, it's an unexpected free bonus.

  10. Just noticed that C1 Tamoachan includes both the mono and color covered versions. Says it was updated 3/29/17, tho I'm not sure if the change was to add one of the versions or something else

  11. D1-2 and B2 have been updated....

  12. D1-2 now includes a download for a monochrome D1
B2 now has 2 versions like B1, but I haven't gotten out the fine-toothed comb to look for differences.

  13. The B2 printings are easy to distinguish, Holmes has a wizard logo and Moldvay has a moon face logo.

  14. That's the first thing I looked at. Both have the Moon Face.

  15. the DDB has a one piece map, the other has a 2 piece map of the caves. The
text of the DDB scan also looks to be a monochrome scan, while the other
    one looks like it's greyscale.

  16. "looks to be a monochrome scan, while the other one looks like it's greyscale"

Is that "black-and-white" vs. grayscale? Like the former has sharper, pixel-ier edges to things, because every element is either black or it's white? Whereas grayscale has many different grays...?

  17. yes, B/W vs. grayscale. Got busy today, and I'll be busy tonight, but I'll try to grab a snapshot of each and post for you to see what I mean. (You get both, at least if you bought B2 a long time ago, you get both, so it doesn't really matter).
