T. Foster, who posts often at the Knights & Knaves Alehouse (a forum dedicated to AD&D 1E), has a new blog The Mystical Trash Heap which is dedicated to the '80s, D&D, Greyhawk & Gygax. Here's his most recent post, which concerns a Flint Dille memory of sandbox gaming with Gygax in L.A. in 1985.

I never encountered it either - until the Internet.
ReplyDeleteI used to use Car Wars rules to play out battles with my G. I. Joes and their vehicles - all I had to do was modify the ground scale.
ReplyDeleteI never heard any anti-Gygax sentiment in L.A. where he was living the high life. Our only awareness of TSR politics was what we read in The Dragon.
Welcome to G+, Trent!
ReplyDeleteThat game-club sounds great. What's the history of it & is it still around?
ReplyDeleteTrent thanks for the great write-up. You should re-purpose that for a blog post! Ironic that the initials of the group were "EGG"!!! I would've loved to have had access to a group like that as a kid; I had great difficulty finding other players beyond my best friend.
