The Twisting Stair: new zine

New zine from Allan Grohe and Anthony Rosten. Debuting at Garycon, will be available from Black Blade Publishing after the con.

Coming soon to an old-school gaming convention near you (if you live near SE Wisconsin, that is!). Myself and Allan Grohe (of Black Blade Publishing and many other fine gaming endeavors) are putting out a gaming newsletter called THE TWISTING STAIR, and I'm handling all the art, cartography and layout. You'll be able to find it at the BBP booth this week at GaryCon, and I'm sure we'll be selling them online soon enough. Below is the nameplate.

  1. Yet another reason I wish I were going to GC IX... Next year!

  3. More and more all the time, I feel like this is the year I should have transitioned from GenCon to GaryCon.

  4. Rich McKee, next year! I've been to Garycon 3 times now and i want to get back like Soran wanted back in the Nexus. But my wife (an amalgamation of Kirk and Picard) won't let me. 😜

I'm planning to go next year for GC-10. Some friends in the area and I are discussing renting a van or something and making a road trip out of it. Assuming there's room, you'd be more than welcome to join in.

  6. Thanks Zach for the assist, as always.

Michael Thomas: here's the blurb I posted about the content on various old school fora.

    The first issue's features include:

    - Combined Hoards as Adventure Hooks: Treasure Maps in the Mega-Dungeon (Part 1 of 2)
    - New monster - the Sasquatch
    - New magic item - the Ring of Reflection
    - An 11"x17" centerfold dungeon map, with 9 pre-generated geomorphs and three blank geos, that can be mixed and matched and placed into the 3 blank geomorph locations built into the map
    - Wandering Monsters table
    - An article on the unique design requirements for first levels of dungeons, focused on the need for replayable encounters; details three such centerpiece encounters as examples

Available at the Black Blade Publishing booth in the Exhibitor Hall at GaryCon IX.

Issue #2 will release at the North Texas RPG Con in June 2017.

  7. After GC IX, can we order this from BBP website?

  8. Eric Hoffman---Will try; we have 125 so I don't think that we'll run out ;)

Charley Phipps---You'll be able to place an order following the instructions on the site's ordering page @ black-blade-publishing.com - Ordering but not likely be able to add it to the cart/checkout/pay/etc. since the site's still broken. We're working on fixing that.
