  1. This was the major difference (aside from stock #) that I found comparing your writeup of the first print rulebook to my second print of the first edition. Out of curiosity, have you noticed any significant changes between second and third editions? I did a brief perusal last night and couldn't really find any obvious culprits.

  2. Do you mean 2nd/3rd printings or editions? This can get confusing but the dates can help clarify: 1st print (77), 2nd print (Jan 78), 3rd print (May 78), 2nd edition (Nov 78), 3rd edition (Dec 79).

  3. If you mean 2nd/3rd printing, there are few further changes to the Wandering Monster table, which my post tomorrow will show.
I think they also took out a few more references to "hobbits" which had slipped by them in the 2nd print.

  4. I mean 2nd/3rd editions. I only have, I think, one 1st edition, one 2nd edition and the rest of my copies are 3rd editions.

  5. There are not a lot of changes between the 2nd/3rd edition. I'd have to go look at them closely again. The Monster Attack table has been revised.

The 3rd edition itself has several printings that are unlabeled. These mostly relate to the changes in the dice. The earliest 3rd edition still refers to d20 labeled 0-9 twice. Later versions alter this, including deleting a paragraph on page 19 that cause the layout of the page to change. There are also changes to the section on using the dice to add material relating to the chits.
