  1. These are the rules that Dr. Holmes used in 1975 to help understand how to play D&D. Read more here:

  2. This is an incredibly historic issue. Haven't had a copy of this in years but it really pissed of Gygax to no end. In A&E he goes from being a very open guy about the use of D&D by fans to pretty rabid about these guys especially.

  3. This is a fantastic post!

    Why are reshares disabled?

Thanks. The reshares may not be working because the "Holmes Basic" community is set to private - you have to join to see the posts. But you should be able to reshare Wayne's original post; I left the same comment there.

  5. Hi Courtney Campbell , I'm guessing reshares are disallowed from a private group. If you click on my original post, it is public, and sharable. And Zach posted a link to his page in the comments there as well to help explain things.
EDIT: heh, posted exactly at the same time!

  6. Warlock was also known among gamers of the time as "Dungeons & Beavers", because the Caltech mascot is a beaver. If you see references to "Dungeons & Beavers" in early RPG publications, they are referring to the same rules as Warlock.
