Forrest Aguirre I wish I'd had that for my little Mickey Mouse "arm" portable player! I've never heard the recording, but I found the booklet recently at a library sale. It can be used as a kids picture book.
The voices are straight from the movie. Plus, if I recall correctly, there's the Glenn Yarbrough song "The Greatest Adventure" on it, which I loved as an 8 year old.
Its amazing just how much the Rankin-Bass productions have influenced my image of the Christmas season. The Thundercats inspired a ton of my early D&D sessions as a newbie DM too. I don't even have to mention how much The Hobbit played in my early love of fantasy. Rest in peace Mr Rankin.
Sad day. I have fond memories of my little ep of "The Hobbit," which I repeatedly played on my record player.

ReplyDeleteSuch a shame.. I loved the Rankin-Bass Hobbit and Return of the King. Still have the hardback book of the animation from the Hobbit - great artwork.
