  1. Great movie, but their first movie was Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. If you haven't seen it I highly recommend!

  2. I saw it for the first time last fall during the first year of Fathom's Ghibli fest. And loved it! But it was made before Ghibli was founded, so Castle in the Sky can be called their first film.

  3. Fair point! Since it's the movie that caused them to start their own company I've always considered it their first.

    Easily my favorite, followed by Mononoke and Whispers of the Heart for me

  4. Yeah, it had me kicking myself for not seeing it earlier, although it was amazing having my first viewing be on the large screen. It'd be a great Gamma World-type setting. I have it on DVD now, need to watch it again. Thanks for the other movie recommendations. I haven't seen either of those yet.
