FYI, Penguin has a new inexpensive 'best of' Clark Ashton Smith, with annotations by Lovecraft scholar S.T. Joshi. Smith was a favorite of Holmes, who requested a Smith poem for his memorial service.

  1. I have read Smith in the past but never knew this connection.  So cool.  I think I will be picking this up on my Kindle.

  3. Joshi has been a machine in getting Penguin to do editions of weird fiction. In addition to this one and the three Lovecraft volumes, he's edited anthologies of M.R. James, Algernon Blackwood, Arthur Machen and Lord Dunsany.

All of which has made it a really great time to be a weird fiction fan.

  5. Wayne Rossi Couple years ago I got to hang out with some from the current authors of the scene like William Hopfrog Pugmire at a Lovecraft fest. Saw Joshi as well. The dude is a machine and really into it.
