The rules aren't worn out yet. :-)

What I just played tonight: 1977 Holmes run by Ron Edwards. First time playing this particular edition since the 70s. We played by the book as written, and it was good.

Awesome. This was at a convention?
ReplyDeleteLove it! Since you played the rules as written, did anyone use the Superdagger in melee? : )
ReplyDeleteCoincidentally, just in the last few weeks I started reading Ron Edwards new comics blog, Doctor Xaos:

No Superdagger. For some details, I used a couple of Dyson's Delve levels as an isolated thing, came up with a concept, stocked it with monsters out of the book but re-skinned in a few cases. More details to come later!
ReplyDeleteP.S. This was my first D&D in 1978. Or at least the blue book inside, with no box or other stuff, plus a couple of Dragon Magazine articles I'd read at a friend's house, plus a couple of Judge's Guild things. Oh, and a small box of miniatures that you were "supposed to have" because.
ReplyDeleteAm very jealous! ;-)
ReplyDeleteWe played this at Forge Midwest in Madison, Wisconsin this weekend.
ReplyDeleteRon Edwards Always great to hear an "origin story".
ReplyDeleteTim Jensen Thanks for the info. Great to see HB making a public appearance.
