Good stuff.. Amusing comment on spending his excess gold on dungeoneering equipment; once AD&D hit and included animals, a mule and a war dog made great buys for the young magic user. Regardless of edition, hiring some meat shields (if possible) were always a good buy; which, come to think of it, would make a good argument for a high CHA being good for MUs to take in order to hire and manage said meat shields.
