Dice Question... how many of favor the d20+ (numbered 0-9 and 0+-9+) when playing old school games, or would buy one if they were available again (somewhere apart from eBay)?
I still use my old d20 from the original pack of dice I bought. So 0 to 9 is might fine. Except when you have to explaining it to the young'ns. And then they want to touch my die to look at it. "Don't touch my die kid. I don't like it."
I wouldn't have it any other way I own quite a few Gamescience brand d20's of that type, some of which are older than a fair percentage of today's D&D players :-)
I like them both, but I am partial to the older 1-10/1-10 d20s. I used my mother's nail polish to color 1/2 of each die back in the 70's and some of them are still usable that way to this day, although significantly chipped :) -=A
I wouldn't mind 0-9 or 1-10 double numbered icosahedron because then I could purge my collection of non-platonic 10 siders. That being said, I play a GM who does not like them.
I stopped bringing my Holmes 0-9 d20 to the AD&D game I play in after I accidentally rolled it by itself for an attack roll. Kind of hard to hit when you can only roll 0-9. : )

I wish I still had mine. It was revolutionary when I got it, and it always rolled well for me.
ReplyDeleteI guess it depends what they look like

I use them almost exclusively, mainly because I only use precision dice and don't have any labeled 1-20. As long as they are precision then yes!

ReplyDeleteI don't have any but the 0 to 9 + would be cool to have.
ReplyDeleteZach H Yeah. I have to store them in a different purse to keep them apart from the "regular" d20s. They have two d3 to keep them compagny.
