Recently learned about the early UK printings of Holmes with (way better) different art. Since it doesn't seem any are for sale, and even if they were, I probably couldn't justify whatever it'd go for, I decided to do some tinkering of my own.
I am wondering if there are any rules differences in this version, maybe it was edited differently.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I've read about it, the text is identical.
ReplyDeleteWhoa, is that art from it? that is awesome!
ReplyDeleteIt's actually from the fiend folio, but it's by the same guy that did the interior illustrations for UK Holmes. I just made it blue.

ReplyDeleteFangorn's art has a very special place in my heart, because he illustrated the Space Voyager magazine article that first introduced me to roleplaying games.
ReplyDeleteany chance of a scan and share of this one?
ReplyDeleteJeremy Deram Nice work! One reason I think that art was intended to be a cover is the blank space at the top.

Jeremy Deram Would you mind if I put your altered image on my Holmes Foreign Edition page? I'll give you credit and link back to your blog.

Sure, but here's an updated one I like a little better. Use whichever one you prefer.

Thanks, Jeremy. Well done, but I think I like the first one better since it uses the D&D logo with the Quentin font from that era.
ReplyDeleteCan I suggest trying the first one with the title in white?
ReplyDeleteMichael Thomas I was thinking the same. I printed one out and it was hard to read.
ReplyDeleteTry this. I'd like to make it go all the way across the top, but it's beyond my skillset to do that and make it look right.
